* Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui*Wouldn't you like to spend your birthday like I spent mine? In Maui....
When you think of Maui what comes to your mind? Beaches? Beauty? Golf courses? Delicious Restaurants? I haven’t been to Maui in a little over 10 years! WOW! I had been to Honolulu about six years ago and knew that Maui would be a little different than that. All I remember when I was little was staying at the beautiful Grand Wailea Resort, going up and down the fun waterslides, the water elevator, chasing JTT (AKA: Jonathon Taylor Tomas from Home Improvement around the property as he was my crush) and seeing Harrison Ford laying near the lazy river. And of course, how could I forget, drinking the delicious Reese Peanut Butter Cup Shakes! Those were the good old days.
This time around was a little different. I love going away for my birthday every year as I feel that it’s a hard time to have a birthday. With Hanukkah, Christmas and New Years all around it, there is no better way to celebrate than with a lovely vacation. I am a beach and sun lover and try to pick places that I can find both of those! This year, I chose Maui. Maui is about a 5-hour flight from Los Angeles and honestly, it went by rather quickly! We flew United Non-Stop from LAX to OGG.
I suggest after you get your rental car that you head to Costco (if you have a Costco Card) as it’s a great place to load up on waters & snacks! The Costco is about 5 mins away from the airport. If you choose not to do that, there are plenty of markets around the island!
I stayed at the BEAUTIFUL, newly renovated Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea. I absolutely LOVE Wailea. It’s such a great place to stay as it is surrounded by so much to do.
The Fairmont Kea Lani is Maui’s only all-suite luxury resort, which makes it great option for families. The rooms are beautifully furnished with top of the line amenities. The décor is beach chic with colors that are soothing to the eye. The thing I loved the most was sitting on the balcony watching the amazing Hawaiian sunsets. The sunsets are absolutely stunning! Not only is The Fairmont Kea Lani an all-suite hotel, but also they offer a plethora of 2-3 bedroom Villas.
These Villas come standard with a rental car and the concierge will even do your grocery shopping for you! They come with a beautiful kitchen and even your own BBQ on your patio! Board games & don’t forget your Video Games equipment for the kids!
When arriving at The Fairmont Kea Lani you are greeted with an amazing smelling orchid lei for the women and a beaded lei for the men. Accompanied with delicious POG Juice. If you aren’t familiar with POG Juice, I suggest you try it ASAP! It’s Pineapple, Orange and Guava! YUMMY!!! Check-In is an extreme breeze and you have such beautiful views to look at!
I of course, first thing first, go up to my room, drop everything off and go out and explore the property! The pools are lovely and have a fun slide for the kids! I can imagine what the pool areas look like during summer time! WOW! That would be a fun experience as everyone in Hawaii is so friendly! The drinks by the pool are refreshing and delicious! My favorite time of the day was when they came around with fresh pineapple & cold towels! The hotel goes above and beyond to treat each guests like they are at home.
I got to experience the spa which was hands down on the of the best massages I have ever received. My spa therapist name was Noelle and would highly recommend her. I opted for the Lomi Lomi massage which is described as, “ the hula of massages uses ancient Hawaiian traditional forearm strokes to apply medium pressure with essential oils selected to reflect the flora and fauna of the Islands – enhancing your stay in beautiful Maui” ~ it did just that!
The first night in Maui since I knew I would be tired from getting up early we decided to try out Nicks Fishmarket Maui, It’s such a beautiful, yet romantic setting sitting outside watching the water and sunset. Maui being known for their fresh fish, we were told not to miss this and since we were staying here, why wouldn’t we? It’s one of Maui’s premier seafood restaurants and don’t think that just because it’s a seafood restaurant that it doesn’t serve anything besides fish, because it does! An appetizer that I absolutely loved was their “Poi Pounder” it consists of Ahi Carpaccio, Blue Crab Salad, Wasabi Aioli & Maui Avocado drizzled with a delicious sauce that was amazing! For dinner our table ordered the Spiny Lobster & Moroccan-Spiced Pacific Salmon. To be honest, this wasn’t our favorite meal on the island and would have maybe tried someplace else if we had known.
The next morning, we ate at their restaurant for breakfast and it was delicious!! My favorite thing to get in Hawaii for breakfast is French Toast. There is nothing more delicious than having my French Toast made from Sweet Hawaiian Bread!
My absolute favorite thing to do in the morning was to wake up, open up the curtains, go outside and enjoy the fresh air that Hawaii has (not the smog we have here in Los Angeles) and then go downstairs for a walk on the path that connects the Four Seasons to the Grand Wailea to The Fairmont Kea Lani. The grounds of the Kea Lani were beautiful with lush flowers and felt so tropical in parts of it. I could have stayed there for weeks! Now I know why so many people who live on the island aren’t originally from there, just vacationed and couldn’t leave! The locals are the friendliest people I have ever met. They are so welcoming and warm and always want you to have a great experience.
Overall, if you are looking for a fabulous hotel that has great amenities, beaches, rooms, food, spa…this is the place to be!!!
