My journey to Botswana started off with my flight from LAX…
I had the pleasure to stay at the Grand Velas Los Cabos ALL Inclusive Suite Resort for 2 nights. This resort exceeded my expectations. The service, the food, the suites and the attention to detail was nothing short of amazing! This is a great resort for families, couples, and singles. There is a very good size kids and teens club. The resort had several families, but you’ll never feel overwhelmed.
One of the Signature amenities was a private transfer from the airport to the resort. Standing with other hotel transfers and rental cars was a gentleman that held the resort sign. We were lead to a black SUV where our driver handed us cold water and small cold towels to cool off. The car was already nice and cool inside with black leather seats and very spacious.
Once we arrived to the resort we were met by bell men who took our luggage from the car and guided to the check-in area were you sit in comfortable chairs, get a mini massage, and have a ocean view. We were greeted by our Concierge Diane who welcomed us to the resort, took our credit card for payment and asked were we would like to have dinner. She explained each restaurant. Diane then brought us to our Suite. She stood at the entrance and asked permission to enter. She proceeded to explain the amenities in the suite, how the lights work and that when the sliding glass door is open to the terrace the air automatically turns off. WOW!!!
The entry level suites are 1081 sq feet. The rain shower is a very good size with a marble bench and a jacuzzi tub for relaxing. There is a small mini bar refrigerator that is filled with soda, beer, wine, chocolate milk and other alcohol. Above the mini is a drawer filled with M&M’s, chips, nuts etc. Both are refilled daily. The terrace is a clear glass so you can see out to the ocean from the bedroom. The turn down service in the evening is also a great experience. They fold the sheet back, lay a chocolate square on each side, set slippers for two, and a bottle of cold water on the night stand. The suites have their very own concierge on each floor so you always feel that you are being attended to.
At Grand Velas there is no rushing to get a good lounge chair at the pool. There are three, including one adult only pool with a swim up bar. Here, the waiters cater to your every need. They bring bottled waters in ice and replenish it every half hour. My husband asked for Corona and was advised they do not serve Corona at the resort. The waiter Sergio said, “Give me some time. I’ll be back.” About a half hour later he arrived with 4 Corona cans on ice!
For our Anniversary, when we came back to our suite after dinner. There was champagne, white roses, a chocolate mousse cake in the shape of a heart, and a Jacuzzi drawn bath with rose peddles. It was amazing!
There are 5 restaurants at the Grand Velas.
- Lucca – Italian Cuisine
- Piaf – French Cuisine
- Frida – Mexican Cuisine
- Velas 10 – Steak and Seafood
- Cocina De Autor – Seasonal dining experience with 2 Michelin Star Head Chef
- Azul – the Buffett which is very casual for Breakfast, Lunch and dinner
Our first night we ate at Velas 10. Food was excellent. Steaks were prepared perfectly. Even though lobster tails are not on the menu, if you order the surf and turf the lobster tails are an option! They are a very good size and delicious. I highly recommend the truffle Mac & Cheese!
Our second night we had dinner at Cocina De Autor. This dining experience was so different than anything I have experienced. This is a 10 course wine pairing dining experience. The courses are in very small bites and the display of the meals are so unique and beautiful – each meal is a surprise! It is hard to describe without experiencing it yourself.
We had breakfast at Azul for breakfast both mornings. The buffet was all fresh and delicious! Several breakfast items to choose from, including a fresh made to order taco bar, omelette bar and waffles. Lots of fresh fruit, bacon, sausages and different style oatmeal’s.
The other 2 Signature amenities are a $50 per person Spa credit and a $100 credit toward a Romantic Dining Experience. We did not take advantage of either one since we were there for a short time. These are the only part of the resort that is not included.
I highly recommend experiencing this Truly ALL Inclusive Resort!!
