It seems like just a few months ago I was writing to all of you wishing you a Happy 2022! And now, it’s already 2023. Where have the years gone (or at least the last three)? When I try to look back, the last few years seem to blur together. Travel stopped, then started again for a few months, then slowed a bit, then picked up again. It seemed it was a continual cycle of increased travel demand, a bit of a decrease in demand, and then an even higher travel demand. Now, at the beginning of 2023, we seem to be fairly close to pre-pandemic travel demand. We have seen so much more of our country, we have ventured back to some of our favorite places, we have complied with different rules and restrictions, and are now hitting some of our bucket list places even faster than before.
As I look forward to this year, I’m still seeing a very high demand for travel. Some clients are planning closer in, some are already planning for 2024 and 2025, and many in between. When asked what trends I’m noticing and the best time to book, my answer is: as soon as you decide you want to go. It’s never too early to reserve your dream vacation. I’ve seen clients delay decisions only to find no availability later. While cancellation fees and flexibility policies have slowly returned to pre-pandemic protocols in most areas, we’re not seeing opportunities for price drops that people became accustomed to over the last few years. Prices remain higher (much higher) than before, with very little reductions (if any). That being said, the higher pricing has not deterred travelers.
Our team continues to grow and we are happy to be part of the FROSCH network. Our offices are filling back up, we are re-engaging in person with our clients and partners, and there is great energy and buzz all around the travel industry. As I closed out last year’s Happy New Year letter with the quote “This too shall pass,” I’d like to leave you with this favorite of mine: “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”
Thank you for your trust and confidence and allowing us to plan some of your most cherished trips. Wishing you and your family a Happy New Year!
